Join us Saturday, January 11 from 10:00am to 12:00pm to learn about Boston’s land-making by examining historic maps. The Norman B. Leventhal Map and Education Center at the Boston Public Library is partnering with Friends of the Boston Harborwalk. Garrett Dash Nelson, Curator of Maps and Director of Geographic Scholarship at the Leventhal Center, will give a curatorial interpretation of some of the collection’s most important maps of the harbor, and also offer an introduction to the library’s digital resources for exploring geo-referenced maps.Space is limited. Please let us know if you register but cannot attend so we can make your spot available to someone on the waitlist. Thank you.

The Norman B. Leventhal Map &amp; Education Center at the Boston Public Library, created in 2004, is a nonprofit organization established as a public-private partnership between the Library and philanthropist Norman Leventhal. 

Friends of the Boston Harborwalk, affiliated with Boston Harbor Now, is an all-volunteer group that promotes public enjoyment of Boston’s 43-mile Harborwalk. FBHW hosts monthly tours (including virtual), facilitates cleanups, and partners with property owners to add interpretive signs along the city’s waterfront.
