I didn't know we could do that here! What kinds of trees can you tap?

Any type of maple can be tapped for making syrup. Boxelder (a type of maple), Norway maple, and bigtooth maple are the most common in Utah. There are a couple non-maple species less commonly found that can be used too.

Where do you find trees to tap?

The best trees to tap are on private ground where there is decent winter access.

What else can you make besides syrup?

There are a number of different uses for the sap that is collected such as making your own candy or sugar. You can even drink it on it's own! We will also cover more uses during our class.
