We have two very special presentations for our Spring Series in addition to our quarterly update on MAPLE.
 
The Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC)
Joining us from BDC, Canada's bank for entrepreneurs, will be Mr. Glenn Yonemitsu, Managing Director, Executive Advisors, Ontario High Impact Firms from BDC Advisory Services. Mr. Yonemitsu will be presenting on the topic of the biggest mistakes that entrepreneurs make. The 3 biggest mistakes entrepreneurs make High-Impact Firms have a disproportionate impact on American and Canadian economies. Each year, barely 2% of Canadian mid‑sized businesses succeed in becoming large businesses. So what are the mistakes CEOs make that limit the growth of their business? Mr. Yonemitsu will share the insights that led to the creation of BDC’s Growth Driver Program. Learn how BDC supports Canadian businesses and discover the three important areas to focus on, if you want to pave the way for growth.
 
RSM And we are also honoured to welcome to the MAPLE podium,  Mr. Alex Kotsopoulos, Partner, Projects and Economics at RSM Canada based in Toronto.
 
A Discussion on USMCA 
The US and Mexico have ratified the new NAFTA agreement/United States–Mexico–Canada Agreement (USMCA). Canada is taking longer to do so largely a result of a minority government, but is expected to do so shortly. While USMCA made some necessary reforms and removed some trade barriers it also erected new ones most notably in the automobile manufacturing sector. Mr. Kotsopoulos will provide a historical overview of the US-Canada economic relationship, describe the key changes in USMCA and outline implications with a focus on bilateral trade between Canada and California, which stands at over $50 billion. He will also provide a Canadian perspective on USMCA and discuss the impact of the current trade dispute between the US and China on Canada and the North American economy.
