Join the University of Ottawa's Friends of Medecins sans Frontieres (FoMSF) club for a very rewarding afternoon!  

Every year, disasters around the world kill 100,000 and affect or displace 200 million people. Mapping can help change that.Work for the international community by helping us map remote areas of the world on OpenStreetMap (a free, community-developed, editable map of the world supported by the OpenStreetMap non-profit foundation). This collective effort will allow NGOs and other humanitarian aid organizations to locate themselves during their missions and to reach and help the most vulnerable people more easily. Overview of what's waiting for you on February the 27th:1) Members of the FoMSF club will be present to help you take your first steps on the "Tasking Manager" website to create an account and learn the basics of mapping (you'll see, it's very easy!).2) Then, with the help of satellite images, you will be able to start mapping buildings, roads and other elements for international organizations (Red Cross, MSF, USAID, etc.).Don't worry too much about making mistakes! After mapping, qualified volunteers will check your maps to make sure they are of high quality. Cartographier peut aider à changer çaTravaillez pour la communauté internationale en nous aidant à cartographier les régions reculées du monde sur OpenStreetMap (une carte modifiable du monde, libre et gratuite, réalisée par la communauté et soutenue par la fondation à but non lucratif OpenStreetMap). Cet effort collectif permettra aux ONG et autres organisations d'aide humanitaire de se localiser au cours de leurs missions et d'atteindre et d'aider plus facilement les personnes les plus vulnérables. Aperçu de ce qui vous attend le 27 février:1) Les membres du club FoMSF seront présents pour vous aider à faire vos premiers pas sur le site "Tasking Manager" pour créer un compte et apprendre les bases de la cartographie (vous verrez, c'est très facile !).2) Ensuite, à l'aide d'images satellites, vous pourrez commencer à cartographier des bâtiments, des routes et d'autres éléments pour les organisations internationales (Croix-Rouge, MSF, USAID, etc.).Ne vous inquiétez pas trop de faire des erreurs! Quand vous aurez fini, des bénévoles qualifiés vérifieront vos cartes pour s'assurer qu'elles sont de bonne qualité.
