Map Cataloging Workshop

The Southern California Technical Processes Group (SCTPG) is a local affiliate of ALA’s Association for Library Collections and Technical Services (ALCTS). Established in April 1959, the SCTPG provides continuing education and networking opportunities to keep technical services library staff abreast with the latest issues and developments in the profession.

Southern California Technical Services Group (SCTPG)

This full-day workshop focuses primarily on print maps and print atlases but does briefly cover globes, digital maps, and other cartographic content. It includes PowerPoint slides, lots of exercises, lots of audience participation, a game or two, and a manual for each participant.  It is informative and fun!
Participants are expected to have a basic knowledge of cataloging but need not have any experience cataloging maps. Experienced map catalogers are welcome as well.
