Set in postcolonial Senegal, the film follows Ibrahima Dieng, an unemployed man whose attempt to cash a money order sent by a relative abroad pulls him into a maze of bureaucracy, corruption, and social obligation. With humor and precision, Mandabi exposes the everyday contradictions of poverty, dependency, and neocolonial society while centering the dignity and struggles of ordinary people.</p>
