Managing the MainStreet/ACD Nonprofit Corporation

Leading a non-profit corporation requires attention to managing a myriad of topics, from board development to financial reporting. More importantly, there are a number of ever-changing legal requirements that are critical for non-profit Executive and Board directors to know and understand. This is a two part session conduct on a single day at multiple locations. The morning session (9:00 – 11:45 am) will primarily focus on the technical details of operating a nonprofit corporation in New Mexico. The afternoon session (12:45-3:30 pm) will have a stronger emphasis on nonprofit board operations and will include a discussion on troubleshooting issues faced by nonprofit leaders on a regular basis. Specific topics include, but are not limited to:

• Non-profit legal structures and the life cycle of non-profit organizations
• Capacity building inputs and roles for leaders at each stage of the life cycle
• State and Federal reporting and compliance requirements
• Financial management: balance sheets, P&L statements, and fiscal sponsorships
• Essentials for non-profit boards: roles, responsibilities, expectations
• Board member recruitment, onboarding and best practices
