With the implementation of paid family leaves, there are benefits beyond family medical leave (OFLA) for which employees may qualify. It can be challenging for supervisors and employers to identify which types of leave apply and how to best communicate with employes.


This training will cover how and when employees may be eligible for both unpaid and paid leaves of absence, how employees are protected, recommended communication regarding leave, and processes for managing the leave, including return-to-work.


Outcomes:

  • Review the Oregon Paid Family Medical Leave Insurance (“Paid Leave Oregon”) eligibility and use
  • Compare Oregon Paid Family Leave to existing Oregon Family Medical Leave Act (“OFLA”)
  • Understand when employees may qualify for one or more protected leaves and the process for designating and tracking leaves
