Malapert Love is a modern response to the tropes, style and structure of Shakespeare’s comedies. It follows the tangled and farcical action of a group of people who have all fallen in love with the wrong person. This delightful new play was a recipient of a 2023 Joseph Jefferson Award for Outstanding New Work, and with this reading - the final presentation of our 2023-2024 Reading Series of Plays by Women - we celebrate a brilliant new voice in Chicago area theatre.

The bar will be open at the American Legion. Snacks will also be for sale. Doors open 6:30, general admission is $20, $15 for Arts Alliance Forest Park Members $10 for anyone 30 and under and $5 for Students and Seniors

The 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀: 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗯𝘆 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 is a chance to discover six exceptional plays by American and British playwrights. Our readings are rehearsed performances read by professional actors without a set or costumes – just words, ideas and passion.
