Zoom access details will be sent to ticket holders before the event.Part of the <a href="https://cvan.art/making-time-for-equitable-change/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Making Time for Equitable Change</a> series of public learning events from the<a href="https://cvan.art/work-campaigns/fair-equitable/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"> CVAN Fair and Equitable programme</a>, this in-conversation event between Amanda Parker and Dr. Cecilia Wee will explore the relationship between equity and the stories we tell ourselves and our peers about success, risk and how we learn.Amanda Parker is the Director of Policy and Communications at The Forward Institute, a non-profit that works with corporate industry to build responsible leadership. Formerly editor of Arts Professional magazine, Parker is founder of Inc Arts UK, and campaigns for greater inclusion in the arts sector workforce. This event will be followed by closing words and a discussion about what action we can take to move forward in doing work to support artists and artsworkers from marginalised and underrepresented backgrounds in the visual arts sector.This workshop is part of <a href="https://cvan.art/making-time-for-equitable-change/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Making Time for Equitable Change</a>, a series of public learning events informed by the findings of CVAN’s Fair and Equitable programme report <a href="https://cvan.art/fair-equitable-research-report/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">‘Fostering Equity in the Visual Arts’</a>, taking place on Zoom, on Wednesday 21st September 2022, 11am-6.30pm.<a href="https://cvan.art/making-time-for-equitable-change-2/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Making Time for Equitable Change</a> focuses on sharing knowledge about how organisations, artists and arts workers can make practical changes to create more equitable working practices in the Visual Arts sector. Although our intention is to foster spaces of mutual support within these sessions, please be aware that the sessions may contain references to experiences of ableism, ageism, classism, homophobia, racism, sexism, transphobia and xenophobia. In joining these sessions, please take care of the effects that such references may have on you - listen and respond to whatever you feel you need. The events will be recorded and recordings will be available after the event. <a href="https://cvan.art/making-time-for-equitable-change-2/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Making Time For Equitable Change</a> is part of CVAN’s Fair and Equitable programme, a five year commitment to developing a visual arts sector that facilitates the leadership and thriving of artists and arts workers from underrepresented and marginalised communities (2021 – 2026).The pilot year of the <a href="https://cvan.art/work-campaigns/fair-equitable/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Fair and Equitable programme</a> (September 2021-September 2022) is led by Dr Cecilia Wee, and includes the report ‘<a href="https://cvan.art/fair-equitable-research-report/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Fostering Equity in the Visual Arts’, </a>professional development project for artists and arts workers in the North West, <a href="https://cvan.art/embracing-possibilities-call-for-participants/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Embracing Possibilities</a>, and <a href="https://cvan.art/making-time-for-equitable-change-2/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Making Time For Equitable Change</a>, a programme of events that calls for the visual arts sector to unite, learn and take action today, towards a fairer future.
