Making Paste Papers

FUELis a project of the School of Fine & Performing Arts which brings artists and scholars to SUNY New Paltz to supplement and expand curricular offerings, including lectures, workshops, exhibitions, performances, and other special events. The projects are interdisciplinary in nature and often include two or more of the departments from within the School, as well as co-sponsorship with other schools, such as the schools of Business and Science & Engineering. The interdisciplinary aspect and the access to visiting artists and scholars are essential, and provide students with new ways of thinking, seeing, and making.

FUEL

Learn to make paste papers—one of the oldest and simplest decorated paper traditions developed by bookbinders as an inexpensive way to create covers and endsheets. Using pigmented paste students will create rich 3-dimensional patterns and designs designs on paper to be used in bookbinding, greeting cards, wrapping paper, collages.
