The global pandemic and uprisings for racial justice fundamentally altered our communities, our organizations, and ourselves. From conversations about building equitable practices within our organizations to developing policies on remote/on-site work, nonprofit leaders are continuing to navigate the after-effects of a historic year. What happened last year? And how can we better navigate this ever-evolving landscape?Join nonprofit leaders from Minneapolis and New York City - two of the major epicenters of a historic year - to unpack what happened, the lessons we’ve learned, and how we’re continuing to respond to the ongoing effects of both the pandemic and uprisings on our organizations and communities. Our featured panelists include: <ul><li>Diana DeJesus-Medina, Chief External Affairs and Strategy Officer at LatinoJustice PRLDEF</li><li>Renee McConey, Managing Director of Health Services at The Door - A Center of Alerternatives, Inc.</li><li>Dominique Morgan, Executive Director of Black &amp; Pink National</li><li>Yvette Russell, Chief Program Officer of READ Alliance</li></ul>This panel is open to all registrants.<h3>WORKSHOP (12:00PM ET - 1:30PM ET)</h3>Following the Panel, registered participants will join the Making Meaning Workshop, a 90-minute workshop guided by facilitators from the Community Resource Exchange. Workshop participants will break out into small groups to review learning frameworks, and engage in individual and collective reflection. Please note that the workshop is limited to the first 50 registrants; to participate, select the ticket option for both the panel and workshop.<h3>ABOUT OUR GUEST SPEAKERS</h3>DIANA DeJESUS-MEDINADiana DeJesus-Medina is Chief External Affairs and Strategy Officer at LatinoJustice PRLDEF, a national nonprofit organization defending the human and civil rights of Latinxs. In that role, Diana manages the organization’s communications, advocacy and resource development activities, shares responsibility for strategic direction and helps guide program and board development. With more than 25 years of expertise in nonprofit management, Diana specializes in organizational, leadership and fund development, as well as strategic planning. A fund development generalist, Diana has managed capital campaigns, launched new fundraising programs, helped build organizational profiles and donor portfolios, and trained and coached boards to become more successful fundraisers and ambassadors. Among her key strengths is coaching leadership and program staff to think creatively about organizational and program alignments to funding streams. She has a strong commitment to fostering emerging nonprofit talent and launched a young professionals board at LatinoJustice. Diana previously served with Family Promise, the American Folk Art Museum, the NYC Department of Education and the YWCA of Brooklyn. She currently serves as a National Associate, providing organizational development facilitation for affiliates of Family Promise, a national nonprofit serving families experiencing homelessness; serves on the Board of Trustees of the New Jersey Institute for Social Justice; and chairs the Board of Directors of Somos El Poder.RENEE McCONEYRenee McConey has over 25 years of extensive experience in clinical management, health center operations, training, quality assurance, and consulting. She has a Master of Science in healthcare management from The New School Milano Graduate Program of Management &amp; Urban Policy, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Stony Brook University.As the Managing Director of Health Services, Renee is responsible for all aspects of health services at The Door. She directs a collaborative and diverse leadership team that manages comprehensive health services, which includes: primary care, dental, vision, sexual and reproductive health, health education, community outreach, and behavioral health services. Her responsibilities include oversight of health center operations, new program development, strategic planning, risk management and compliance, staff training and development, revenue cycle management, budget oversight, and grants management.Prior to joining The Door, Renee worked with various Planned Parenthood affiliates including Regional Director in Nevada, an Associate Director of Affiliate Clinical Operations with PPFA, and as the VP of Medical Services in New Jersey. As a Consultant, Renee served as a subject matter expert and professional trainer on issues related to health center operations, patient flow, productivity, efficiency, clinical staffing models, customer service, and client-centered care. Earlier in her career, she served as an Administrative Manager with NYC Department of Health. As part of her volunteer work, Renee served as co-chair for the sexual and reproductive health sub-committee as part of the Clinical Committee with Community Health Care Association of New York State. Additionally, she served as the Curriculum Director, with Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. and was responsible for developing an evidence-based national teen pregnancy training program, as part of a national grant funded projectDOMINIQUE MORGANDominique Morgan (She/Her) is an award-winning artist, activist, and TEDx speaker. As the Executive Director of Black and Pink, the largest prison abolitionist organization in the United States, she works daily to dismantle the systems that perpetuate violence on LGBTQ/GNC people and individuals living with HIV/AIDS. Partnering her lived experience of being impacted by mass incarceration (including 18 months in solitary confinement), with a decade of change-making artistry, advocacy, and background in public health, she continues to work in spaces of sex education, radical self-care, and transformative youth development with intentions of dismantling the prison industrial complex and its impact on our communities. Ms. Morgan is a 2020 Ten Outstanding Young Americans Award recipient, NAACP Freedom Fighter Award recipient, and 2020 JM Kaplan Innovation Prize recipient. As the Chief Program and Partnerships Officer at Read Alliance, Yvette’s executive leadership role and personal mission align with her being able to serve hundreds of young people throughout New York City. She is driven when it comes to operating programs with efficacy and ensuring that partners, and donors meet the same level of commitment to youth.Even as the pandemic ushered in a new way of engagement Yvette continued to provide innovative opportunities that connect youth to supports through Read Alliance. This year READ was able to launch the 3rd annual Youth Summit—her brainchild, in a virtual space. Nearly 150 teens joined. In addition, more than 200 kindergarten, first and second grade students logged on for remote 1-to-1 reading with a teen as their tutor.Prior to joining Read Alliance in 2015, Yvette worked in Special Projects and Alumni Relations at Harlem Children&#x27;s Zone where she also served as Director of the Truce Media Literacy and Arts Program until 2012. In addition to having over 20 years of non-profit management and program experience, Yvette has worked in publishing as the Entertainment Editor at Essence Magazine. Yvette received the &quot;Coming Up Taller&quot; Award from The President&#x27;s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities in 2005 and has participated on numerous panels including the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum National Conference, &quot;Thinking Like an Artist: Creativity and Problem Solving in the Classroom” and has presented at the Annual Everyone Reading Conference on literacy instruction and program best practices. Yvette is a member of the New York Equity Coalition, a branch of Education Trust and the Staten Island Alliance. Yvette holds a Bachelor&#x27;s degree in Journalism and African American History from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Yvette is an avid reader, a native New Yorker and the mother of 4 children, three in high school and one who is an engineering major at Howard University.
