BIO

Damaris L Mercado started her career in events and projects while in her teens performing and working in musical theatre through an after school program. Then, as a Club MTV dancer, she became more intrigued with what was happening behind the scenes.

Encouraged by her mother to explore all things of interest, and by her father to “know how to make your own productions happen and not wait for someone else to cast you”, she was thrust into the family business traveling and working on recording projects, music videos and concerts at world renowned venues.

Her experiences in different positions at her father’s companies, Ralph Mercado Presents and RMM Records & Video culminated with the title of Director of Production & Manufacturing before moving to Panama with her partner and baby in tow.

While living in Panama, she had another child, co-created a tv show, opened an acting school and produced a few fundraising concerts.

Many moons later and based in NYC, she’s produced various events, with a highlight at Lincoln Center for Midsummer Night’s Swing Concert Series, and is still at it producing projects and small events primarily serving the education and wellness communities.

Damaris holds a BS Degree in Communications from Syracuse University, is a Certified Coach, a Registered Yoga Instructor and an avid dancer, writer, photographer, traveler and vegetarian.

Besides co-growing her business, fittingly titled Making IT Happen, Damaris currently plays the roles of Director of Programming & Counseling for the Latino College Expo creating, producing and facilitating workshops, info sessions, seminars and the annual College Expo and Leadership Summit geared towards the higher education seeking community. She's also serves as a current Board Member for CACNY (College Access Consortium of New York) and actively sits as the Vice Chair of Success.

With a couple of developing projects (ie: www.MercadoProject.org & www.LatinMusicMonth.com) and no plans of stopping anytime soon, wearing her coach-consultant-producer hat, Damaris loves helping people figure out how to bring their vision to fruition and Making IT Happen.
