<h2>Making Every Movement Count℠</h2><h3>Effective strategies for Parents and Practitioners to promote learning for children with special needs beyond the limits that have been expected</h3>When: Sunday, April 26, 2020 from 9 am to 5 pmWhere: The StoneHouse, 20670 Fernbank Court, Sterling, VA 20165 (with full kitchen facilities for anyone who needs to refrigerate or heat special or kosher food for themselves or their children)<h2>Who: Carla Oswald Reed</h2>Carla will share her unique perspective and experience from her 50 year professional history as a pediatric Physical Therapist which has been transformed and enriched by her training with<ul><li>Moshe Feldenkrais (1980-83, Lifetime certified Feldenkrais® Practitioner) </li></ul><ul><li>Anat Baniel (Certified Anat Baniel Method of NeuroMovement® Practitioner since 2004, Trainer 2011-2016)</li></ul><ul><li>The Bobaths (1972 NeuroDevelopmental Treatment for Cerebral Palsy, NDTA™) &amp; </li></ul><ul><li>Magda Gerber (1988 Intensive at Resources for Infant Educarers®)</li></ul>Here is a link to a video interview with Carla at the Scandinavian Center for Neurodevelopmental Movement in which she discusses differences between conventional Physical Therapy and her work: https://movementtowholeness.com/353/carlas-on-camera-interview/This is a one day public workshop for parents, other family members and/or caregivers; Feldenkrais® and/or Anat Baniel Method of NeuroMovement® Practitioners; and other professionals involved with children who have special needs that have interfered with their developmental learning. The workshop will include movement experiences, presentation of background material, and live and/or video demonstration of my work with children, and Q &amp; A for participants to be introduced to learn how:<ul><li>Your child learns from feeling the weight of his/her body parts in space</li><li>Your child of any age can reenter the learning process and improve</li><li>To observe your child with wonder and curiosity rather than focus on what&#x27;s wrong and &quot;fixing&quot;</li><li>To understand the enormous potential of neuroplasticity which is the brain&#x27;s capacity to change </li><li>To use qualities of touch, pacing, and language in the interactions with your child that get the brain&#x27;s attention</li><li>To use gravity to tailor learning experiences for your child that your child does not generate for him/herself</li><li>To awaken your child’s learning potential when other professionals have said the child “plateaued” </li><li>To employ this dynamic systems approach to learning in everyday activities with your child in ways that your child experiences him/her-self as: </li></ul>-a responsible and respected participant in every aspect of his/her life; -a capable person who can learn; -communicating more effectively with others;-discovering more effective functional relationships of his/her body parts; and -problem solving how his/her body moves in gravity
For out-of-town participants, Carla has arranged a special rate at the nearby Hawthorne Suites by Wyndham (21123 Whitfield Place Sterling, Virginia 20165-7271, 703-774-3196) and the Hampton Suites by Hilton (46331 McClellan Way, Sterling, VA 20165, 703-450-9595).
Carla has reserved three days in the week before the workshop (Wednesday, April 22 through Friday, April 24, 2020) and three days in the week following the workshop (Thursday, April 30 through Saturday, May 2, 2020) for appointments in her practice with children of any workshop participants whose parents want an intensive with Carla while they are in Sterling, VA.
