Learn how to visibly mend your clothes!  This hands-on community event includes a demonstration, presentation & personalized help.

Inspired by our host’s interest in mending, this month’s Making Community will include a presentation on the depiction of mending in both high art &amp; day-to-day life alongside a demonstration of visible mending on textiles.Attendees are asked to bring a woven textile to mend. This means something like a broadcloth shirt or pair of jeans. However, starting your visible mending journey with a pair of jeans that need the inside thighs mended is a tough slog! Think more along the lines of khaki-weight pants or denim that needs a tear on the thigh covered. Try not to bring anything knitted (this includes t-shirts with stretch) as this adds an extra layer of difficulty. If you have any questions please reach out by email first, almanacofthechathams@icloud.comParticipants may also bring an embroidery hoop, scraps of fabric and thread if you have them, otherwise supplies will be provided.
