During our first class of the course we will be focused on how CNC machines work and pass safety tests for CNC machines.

During our second session of the burst, we will be focused on learning the basics of modeling and toolpathing on Fusion 360.

Our third session will be finishing up our modeling and toolpathing using Fusion 360.

About this Course

The Innovation Hub Burst series is intended to do a project-based deep dive on pieces of makerspace equipment so that participants can achieve competency and grow to use equipment indpendently.

This Burst course focuses on CNC machines. Participants will become competent in designing and using a CNC machine.

Prerequisites

This course is intended for participants 12 years of age or older. We require that all participants are able to do the following independently:

  • General computer use skills including: clicking, right clicking, dragging and dropping, and using a keyboard.
  • Ability to follow basic verbal and written instructions
  • Prior experience with CNC machines recommended

Who can attend this course?

This course is intended for participants age 10 years or older that meet the minimum requirements listed in the event description. If you are wanting to register a participant younger than 10, please reach out via eventbrite and a staff member will work with you to determine if it is a good fit.

What should be worn to class?

We will be working with pieces of equipment that containing moving parts and heated components. We suggest all participants come to class with close-toed shoes and clothing that is not too loose. Long hair will need to be pulled back.

Can I keep my project?

All projects and supplies will be paid covered by paying your class registration fee.

What if I miss a day?

With the brevity of our burst courses, we strongly discourage missing a week of class. However, we know life happens. Participants that miss a day can attend our Tinker Time hours on Friday by securing a reservation on our website. Refunds will not be issued for missed classes.

What if I need more time to complete my project?

We encourage all participants that need additional time to complete projects to attend our Tinker Time hours on Friday. Reservations are required.
