Join us for a string art workshop- learn the basics and make a small string art creation of your own!

Join us for a new monthly program, Make! Each month we’ll get together for a fun evening of communal crafting.String art isn&#x27;t just for summer camp! String art can be an intricate and beautiful way to create gorgeous three dimensional designs.Join us on Tuesday, March 9th 2021 at 6:30 to learn the basics of string art and complete a small string art project of your own.Please have the following materials on hand for the workshop:ScissorsHammerNails (finishing nails or nails with a small head work best; you&#x27;ll need at least 20 for a very simple design, more for more complex designs)Embroidery floss or yarnA small square or rectangle of wood (anything between the sizes of 4x4 and 12x12 will work)PaperPencilOptional: if you want to have your board a color other than its natural wood, please paint or stain it at least one full day before the workshop so that it will be completely dry the day of the workshop. We recommend using a color that has a good contrast to the color of the yarn/floss that you have selected.Don&#x27;t have these materials? No problem! Email us at library@mainemechanics.org to arrange to have materials supplied. You will still need to supply your own hammer and scissors.Membership with Mechanics&#x27; Hall is free for students and starts at just $50 a year for individual memberships, which includes use of the library, free and discounted access to programs, and much more.
