Make A Thon 2026: Coding - Making - Problem Solving

By College of Lake County Engineering Program

Overview

Are you ready to accept a challenge that will combine sensors, motors, programming and prototyping?

The one-day workshop will kick off with an introduction to coding and the platform we are using. A specific challenge will be revealed for your team to complete. Sign up with friends or we can assign you to a team. Register at the middle school level, high school level, as a community member (18 +) or as an all ages team.

Use your creativity and our makerspace resources (laser, 3D printer, and lots of cardboard) to complete the challenge. Mentoring and technical assistance will be provided by CLC Engineering Interns. All the Make-a-Thon projects will be showcased at Maker Faire Lake County on April 12th, 2025. Maker Faire attendees will be voting to determine our winners based on the following categories.

Most Aesthetically Pleasing – Everyone is going to want this stylish contraption

Entrepreneurship Expert - This solution is ready for the market

Participation and the use of the Arduino kit and electronics are free, funded in part by a grant from Baxter International Foundation and the College of Lake County. Additional information is available by contacting CLC Engineering Department Chair Jan Edwards at jedwards1@clcillinois.edu.
