Make a flapper skate mosaic - workshop
Using the lenses of science and art, participants will get closer to the second largest fish in our waters.
Join flapper skate scientists from SAMS and NatureScot to explore the awesome flapper skate that is protected in the waters around Oban and work with artist Emma Baker to create your own mosaic of this elusive giant.
£38.62 per person (8 years and above)
Venue: Ocean Explorer Base (next to the Ocean Explorer Centre)
What to bring: wear something you don’t mind getting messy in
This event is brought to you by the Argyll Hope Spot, who run Snorkelling Artists Residencies that today's guest artist, Emma Baker, took part in.
The Argyll Coast and Islands Hope spot is a community-led celebration of this part of Scotland’s world-class natural riches. It is the first Hope Spot in the mainland UK.
Hope Spots are special places, vital for the ocean’s health, linked by the international organisation Mission Blue. This growing global network also includes the Galapagos Islands and Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.
Collectively, Hope Spots are creating a global wave of community support for ocean conservation that policymakers cannot ignore.
