Makars - Virtual Open Mic April

In the spirit of "makers", the Makars Open Mic Series is an authentic way to meet each other and honor our creative work. Held once a month in different venues across D.C., these Open Mics regularly draw crowds of over fifty people. Our goals are simple: to revel in the talent of our friends and neighbors; to find meaningful ways to meet and learn from each other; and to build a local writers’ community. We're looking for performers who want opportunities to test out original work, reach new audiences, or are re-discovering their side passions. Whether new arrivals to the city or long-time residents, we're all looking to make new friends and expand our networks. Come gather with us to share good art and show how much talent lives in D.C.

Join us virtually as we share and listen to original music, poetry, stories and other crafts. In honor of National Poetry Month, we&#x27;re co-hosting this month&#x27;s Makars with LMS Voice (https://lmsvoice.com/) led by poet Joseph Green (https://josephgreenspeaks.com/). LMS Voice an educational and wellness company specializing in the curation of radically healing curriculums for all humans. Check out their upcoming poetry workshops with Potter&#x27;s House this month! (https://pottershousedc.org/)In the spirit of makers, we will have Open Mic style performances across genres and crafts. Each piece should be 5 minutes or fewer so we can include as many people as possible. Sign-up sheet will be shared at the start of the open mic. You must register on Eventbrite to receive the Zoom link. The event is free and open to the public.The Makars Series brings together high-quality, genre-diverse performers. Help us build and elevate DC&#x27;s creative community.
