MADE Classroom:  Character Design

The Museum of Art and Digital Entertainment is a 501c(3) nonprofit aimed at expanding access to our digital heritage and celebrating the diversity of its contributors. We do this by preserving digital entertainment, restoring its playability, educating about its creation, and using it to engage the community.

In this class, students will learn the fundamentals of character design, specifically how it relates to making iconic video game characters.

Age Range: Around 8 to 13 years oldDescription: This class is a 1.5 hour lesson that teaches students the process of creating character designs and how previous artists made design choices within the technical limitations of their game technologies.Students will learn<ul><li>Historical graphical limitations</li><li>What to think about when designing characters</li><li>Big, Medium, Small: How to balance visual elements</li></ul>
