Machine Knitting 101
Bring a knitting machine and spend time one-on-one with an instructor. Instructors: Carole Wurst & J. Wurst
Bring a machine and knit in our studio. An instructor (or two) will be here when you need assistance. This is a good time to bring questions or problems to solve.
We established this opportunity at the request of machine knitters who said they wished they could sign up for "studio time" similar to signing up for office hours with a college professor. It's not a class and we will not have a specific project for you to do, unless you ask ahead of time. We can prepare simple or basic patterns if you wish. We have a large selection of pattern books and yarn on hand for purchase.
There is a limit of three people per session to allow for one-on-one time for everybody.
This is not a knitting machine repair or cleaning class, but we will take some time at the beginning of class to make sure everything is in working order. Cleaning or repairs will not be done in class.
Any knitting machine is welcome, with the following exceptions:
-vintage machines that are determined to be not usable will be set aside and we will allow you to borrow one of our shop machines to use for the day.
-Passap and other European double bed machines require special classes and are not suitable for this day unless you are already proficient on the machine.
-if you have a CIrcular Sock Machine we would prefer you sign up instead for our twice yearly Circular Sock Machine sessions in April and October.
-Silver Reed, Studio, Singer, Knitmaster, Brother, KnitKing, Toyota, Elna, Artisan, Creative, and Taitexma knitting machines are welcome and very familiar to the instructors. We have replacement parts for all of these machines on hand.
