Mabon is a celebration of the Autumn Equinox and second harvest.
At this harvest equinox, the night and day are once again at a perfect balance. After this day in the Wheel of the Year, we will experience shorter days and longer nights, descending into Autumn and then Winter. The sun's power is waning, the season is cooling, and the cycle of birth to death is almost complete. The season of death is beginning to emerge, with its reds, golds, and fiery oranges. The earth is returning to darkness.
Harvest is in full swing now, with fruits, nuts, and veggies ready to be cooked, preserved, and eaten. This is the great harvest feast - a time to celebrate abundance, plentiful nourishment, and luxurious foods. At this time, we thank the Harvest King for his great love of the earth's Harvest Queen and the resulting wealth of abundance. He dies as the last bushels of grain are cut but will return again next year.
In our personal lives, Mabon is a time to reap what we have sown and reflect on the manifestation of the choices we have made over the year. It is time to finish projects, complete journeys, and let go of that which is no longer a fit, as we descend deeper into the darker half of the year. You may also consider what seeds, hopes, and dreams you wish to plant prior to the coming Winter that will lay dormant, wrapped in darkness, waiting for the return of Spring.

We will be celebrating Mabon at Jillian's house and would be so grateful if you would bless us with your presence. Please bring an Autumn dish to share.
What to bring:
Please bring a harvest dish to share. Think Thanksgiving! We are celebrating abundance, wealth, and luxury together. Mabon foods include squash, carrots, nuts, apples, pomegranate, and spices.

What to expect:
- We will share food and laughter together.
- We will have a short time to reflect on the history of this festival and the meaning of the Autumn Equinox.
- We will share a time of reflection about our harvest of abundance and wealth in our own lives, which may include writing, lighting candles, drumming, cards, and prayers.
- We will enjoy a fire together, as we embrace the equinox with a cup of tea and conversation. If desired, we will include a drum circle or draw meaningful messages for one another.
