Prepare to be captivated by a lineup of live musical and spoken word poetry performances from Lyrical Opposition and friends in the arts community throughout the years. This legacy event will have performances that range from storytelling, hip-hop, spoken word, and alternative sounds from the Non-Prophets, the Kristen Cardiasmenos Project, San Francisco’s Poet Laureate, Tongo Eisen-Martin and more. From established local legends to rising stars, the Lyrical Festival will feature a diverse range of genres, ensuring there’s something for everyone. Get ready to dance in place, try to sing along to songs you’ve never heard before, and feel the rhythm in your soul as our talented lineup of performers take the stage.
As a celebration of the visual arts, the Lyrical Festival will also showcase an array of short films and music video blocks that explore the power of storytelling. Think of Yo! MTV Raps, Pop-Up Video on VH1 and California Music Channel, but celebrating local artist music videos live on the big screen and watching them in the same auditorium with a local audience. From thought-provoking lyric videos to imaginative narratives, these cinematic creations will transport you to different worlds of the Bay Area and inspire meaningful conversations.
