Root for Trees is an enhanced tree planting initiative which intends to increase tree planting within the city through continued partnerships with corporations, individual residents ,and community groups. The annual target of this initiative is to plant an additional 16,000 trees annually on public and private land.www.rootfortrees.ca

Lymburn

Plant and Pull is a new and fun event to allow volunteers to participate in both tree plantings and weed pulling. Join the City of Edmonton for a safe and interactive volunteer experience where you will learn about the urban forest and what you can do to protect it. Each event will consist of education and training, tree planting and hand pulling of invasive plants. All ages are welcome! On the day of the event, volunteers will be split into two groups of 15 and rotate through the tree planting and weed pull activities. There are two shifts available and they are two hours each: from10 am to noon, and from noon to 2 pm. <ul><li>Health and Safety: Please wear closed toed shoes and bring a mask with you. Volunteers will be asked to complete a pre screening questionnaire upon Sign In and are required to maintain a minimum 2m distance between individuals and families. In registering for this opportunity, volunteers agree to abide by the instructions and safety related rules while participating in this project.</li></ul><ul><li>Event Location: For volunteer sign in, please find us at the green space south of Whitemud Dr and north of 78 Ave &amp; 183 St. Google Map link : https://goo.gl/maps/fB26QUBg9bdVKGFdA. There is street parking in both Lymburn and Aldergrove neighbourhoods.</li></ul><ul><li>Event Cancelation Policy: The City of Edmonton retains the right to modify or cancel the event in the case of increased public health restrictions. Registrants will be notified of any changes to the event status.</li></ul>
