Lunchtime Roundtable with Prasiit Sthapit
Roundtable lunch celebrating Nepalese photographer and Magnum Foundation grantee Prasiit Sthapit, whose work will be on view at MoMA.
Magnum Foundation invites you to an intimate gathering with photographer Prasiit Sthapit on the occasion of his work being featured in the Museum of Modern Art’s “New Photography 2025: Lines of Belonging” show, on view from September 14, 2025 – January 17, 2026.
Prasiit will talk about his project Change of Course, which will be showing at the Museum of Modern Art, and supported by Magnum Foundation's 2016 Emergency Fund. He will also present his Counter Histories project Moonsongs for Earth, a musical exploration of the decade-long war in Nepal, which was featured in Aperture’s Spring 2024 issue ‘Counter Histories’ and this video spotlight produced by Magnum Foundation.
Prasiit will also speak about his engagement with the photo community in Nepal. There will be a print sale to fundraise for his work with Photo Kathmandu (PhotoKTM).

About the artist
Prasiit Sthapit is a Kathmandu-based visual storyteller, working across still and moving images. His work delves into the intersection of land, history, and politics. He has also been exploring the role of music on culture and movements. He is currently associated with Fuzz Factory Productions, a multimedia collective based in Kathmandu, photo.circle, a platform for photography in Nepal and Photo Kathmandu. He is also the director of Fuzzscape, a multi-media music documentary project.
About PhotoKTM
PhotoKTM, a small biennial photo festival based in Kathmandu, Nepal that brings together visual practitioners, researchers, educators and cultural organisers particularly from across Southasia, to explore the political lives of images and their place in shaping histories and futures. PhotoKTM is organized by photo.circle which is a community and platform of photographers and other visual practitioners based in Kathmandu. photo.circle also runs Nepal Picture Library which is a digital archive dedicated to documenting, researching and disseminating Nepali social and cultural history.
