Mountain Spirits co-curator Gassia Armenian offers insights into the exhibition, exploring the sacred landscapes and rich cultural traditions of the Ifugao people of northern Luzon. Experience the artistry, history, and spiritual practices that have shaped one of the Philippines’ most remarkable cultural communities.
Gassia Armenian is a curator and researcher at the Fowler Museum at UCLA, where she conducts collections research and manages exhibitions. She has co-curated Mountain Spirits, an exhibition on the Ifugao people of the Philippines, and has curated several notable exhibitions, including those on Armenian textiles and diaspora, which received recognition from the Armenian Academy of Sciences in 2023, as well as pioneering exhibitions featuring interactive technology. She is also developing a project linking global artists with local communities for ancestral healing. Prior to the Fowler, she worked with USAID in Armenia on civics education.
