<p>It’s5:15inthemorninginanhistoricapartmentbuildingindowntownCharlottesvillecalledThePinkWarehouse.LaurenandDanielGoans,whoyouwillknowasthemarried,world-traveling,singer/songwritingfolkduoLowlandHum,aremakingtheirfourthfull-lengthrecord,Glyphonic,intheirstudioapartmentonthetopfloor.Ontopofabookshelfabovethewindow,there’saplasticbincollectingblackwaterthatdripsthroughacrackintheroof.ThereasontheGoansesareawakesoearlyistotrackguitarsfortheirnewalbumbeforetherestofCharlottesvillerises.They’llcontinuetotrackthroughouttheday,takingbreaksonlybyforceofnoiseintrusions:construction,trucks,andthequakingoftheentirebuildingastrainspassonthetrackswithinanarm’sreachofthebackstoop.  These  early  morning  hours  will  prove  dramatically  valuable  for  the  quiet  they  afford.Astheworldhascontinuedtogrowlouderaroundthem,LowlandHumhavespenttheircareerrefiningtheparticularpoweroftheirself-imposedrestraint.Glyphonicisthepurestdistillationofthisthesistodate,settingaboutthedifficultworkoffindingstillnessandmeaninginthemidstofchaos:acollection  of  quietudes  created  and  savored  among  all  this  present  noisiness.GlyphonicisLowlandHum'sfourthfull-lengthrecordoforiginalmaterialfollowing2017'sThin.ThebandhasspentthelasttwoyearsontheroadinboththeUSandEuropewiththelikesofJoshRitter,PennyandSparrow,andTheOhHellos.Overanexpansivecareerthey'veearnedcriticalpraisefromNPR,Paste,HuffingtonPost,AmericanSongwriter,TheWashingtonPostandmore.2019  will  bring  a  headlining  tour  in  support  of  the  new  album.</p><p></p>
