East Passyunk Opera Project was developed to create opportunities to bring opera off the stage and into Philadelphia communities. We bring the art form up close and personal in order to build a more intimate level of engagement between audiences, the artists, and the music.From our first packed house concert in December of 2019, we quickly pivoted to alternative venues in 2020 and staged successful outdoor performances as well as digital productions.Our mission is to expand community awareness and access to opera, musical theater, and art song by collaborating with exceptional performance and visual artists paired with unique venues to bring innovative, accessible, and free or low-cost performances to Philadelphia audiences.

Sour Notes is the sequel to Love Notes, which premiered virtually last year.</h3>Last year&#x27;s show was all about love, love, sweet love. This year, it&#x27;s a little different. <a href="https://www.epopphilly.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">ePOP</a> knows that love can get messy. This year, the focus is on the raunchy, the real, the less than ideal, the getting dumped and breaking up, all aspects of the glorious fustercluck that love can be.Want to raise a glass or a middle finger (we won&#x27;t judge 😘) to Valentine&#x27;s Day with us? Then join us live at Society Hill Dance Academy on February 19 for an evening of transgressions and lamentations. Repertoire performed will be from the opera, art song, and musical theater oeuvre. There will be 2 Shows on February 19, 2022.EARLY SHOW – 7:00PM: Doors at open at 6:15PM. Arrive early and get yourself a complimentary cocktail or two before we begin! Show starts at 7:00PM. All guests will be released out into the world around 8:30PM so we can reset and prepare for the late show.LATE SHOW – 9:30PM: Doors open at 9:00PM. Arrive early and get yourself a complimentary cocktail or two before we begin! Show starts at 9:30PM. All guests will be released out into the world around 11:00PM.Tickets for the live show: GENERAL ADMISSION: $35 includes two complimentary cocktails. On the evening of Saturday, February 19th, once the sappy glow of V-Day has lost its sheen, ePOP will present two back-to-back cabaret performances of Love Notes 2.0... Sour Notes with Philadelphia-based artists at <a href="https://societyhilldance.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Society Hill Dance Academy</a>. Come to the early show and catch dinner at one of East Passyunk’s neighborhood haunts after. Or, have an early meal and join ePOP for the late show. The modern industrial event space at <a href="https://loftonpassyunk.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"></a>Society Hill Dance Academy is inspired by the arts and the eclectic energy of the surrounding neighborhood with steel beams, bistro lighting, and a striking, historic brick bar. ePOP is teaming up with <a href="https://www.manatawnystillworks.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Manatawny Still Works</a> and <a href="https://byomixers.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">BackYard Originals</a> to offer two complimentary cocktails to each guest over 21 years of age. Proof of vaccination will be required to enter, including booster shot, if eligible. Artists for the live event include Philadelphia-based opera singers and real-life couple, <a href="https://www.ashleymarierobillard.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Ashley Marie Robillard</a>, soprano, and <a href="http://www.joshuabluetenor.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Joshua Blue</a>, tenor. They will be joined by Philadelphia-based soprano, <a href="http://www.katrinathurman.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Katrina Thurman</a>, mezzo-soprano, <a href="https://marenmontalbano.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Maren Montalbano</a>, who will offer selections from her one-woman show, The Bodice Ripper Project, pianist <a href="https://www.baltimoreconcertopera.com/aurelien-eulert" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Aurelien Eulert</a>, and drag queen cabaret artist and emcee extraordinaire, <a href="https://www.instagram.com/mariatopcatt/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Maria TopCatt</a>. Artists for the live concerts have performed at venues including The Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall, Opera Philadelphia, and Studio 54.Signature cocktails will be available; conceived by BackYard Originals using spirits from Manatawny Still Works:Love Notes- Sweet, floral, and fizzy. Manatawny Vodka, BackYard Originals Kaffir Lime Leaf syrup, lime, muddled mint, club soda.Sour Notes- Velvety, tart, and a little bit spicy. Manatawny Gin, BackYard Originals Ginger Lemongrass Syrup, lemon, angostura bitters, egg white.FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONSWhat are the COVID regulations?1. Proof of vaccination must be shown at the door to enter Society Hill Dance Academy, including booster, if eligible.2. We ask that guests wear a mask at all times, unless consuming a drink. Masks will be available for all audience members wanting or needing them.3. Some of the performers will be unmasked while singing or playing. All performers are vaccinated and have received boosters, if eligible.Is this show appropriate for children?This show includes some adult themes and language. For this reason, this show is most appropriate for ages 16+. Parental discretion is advised.What time is check-in?Doors open for the early show at 6:15PM and at 9:00PM for the late show. Guests are welcome to grab a cocktail and mingle while they wait for the performance to begin. Admission closes at 7:00PM sharp for the early show and 9:30PM sharp for the late show. Refunds for late arrivals or no-shows will not be given.Is this a seated performance?VIP Tickets guarantee a reserved seat. Please note that there are no assigned seats for General Admission tickets. General Admission guests may take whichever available seat they prefer upon arrival, provided it is not a Reserved seat. Will there be drinks?Oh yes... there will be yummy cocktails compliments of Manatawny Still Works and BackYard Originals! In addition to the signature cocktails, we&#x27;ll offer a Manatawny Old Fashioned and basic vodka and gin cocktails, ie: vodka soda. Guests will receive 2 complimentary cocktail vouchers upon entering. Guests are limited to 2 cocktails each. This is not a cash bar.
