If you take a moment and observe people around you, you will likely see this same visual. People’s necks craned downward, faces lit, scrolling their phone. Over 50% of teens are addicted to their phones in America and are swiping and tapping their phones almost 3,000 times a day. Are our devices connecting us or are they consuming us? How do we renegotiate the relationship we have with smartphones?‘Look Up’ is facilitating conversations around how to be less mindless and more mindful with our technology use. It’s a reminder of the high-definition and saturated world that exists beyond our phone screens.Blloc and Palm's smartphones will be on display for you to see the minimalist philosophies integrated in the design and technology of both devices. On display in the gallery space is a special exhibit by Eric Pickersgill called 'Removed', addressing the shifting social, physiological, psychological consequences of the digital revolution.
