Localisation Week: three days of events centred around an ambition to be "as local as possible, as international as necessary".

Globalt Fokus

Since the World Humanitarian Summit in 2016 called for humanitarian aid to be “as local as possible, as international as necessary”, there’s been an increasing interest in exploring the notion of &#x27;localisation&#x27; from both a practitioner&#x27;s and academic perspective. 
Please join Save the Children Denmark, DIIS, Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke, Oxfam IBIS and Global Fokus in different events, over three days, exploring different discourses from practice, academia and innovation to ensure aid work is more accountable to the people it intends to serve. <h3>Programme </h3><h1>Tuesday 3rd March </h1><h3><em>1. Many aid organisations, research institutes and think-tanks have engaged in different kinds of research initiatives as part of a localisation agenda. This session aims at creating increased awareness of current research and reports on localisation, and discuss how localisation practice can be increasingly informed by and build on new knowledge. This is an open event aimed at enaging academic, researcher, practioners alike.

In this third event under the Localisation in Practice project where we take a closer look at complementarity between national/local and international humanitarian organisations in formal coordination mechanisms and other decision-making processes, including the meaningful participation of women-led organisations. The workshop will provide an insight into current practices and explore  concrete ways  INGOs can be more mindful of complementarity and better support the inclusion and participation of local actors in humanitarian systems .

The reflection platform will bring together representatives from Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke, Oxfam IBIS and Save the Children Denmark to  reflect upon and discuss the learning from the public event and how this may be used to further the localisation agenda in the respective organisations. This is a closed event. <h3><em>4. Humanitarian innovation for localisation (seminar) </em></h3><p><em><strong>Hosted by Save the Children Denmark and DIIS </strong></em></p><p><em><strong>14.00 - 16.30, DIIS Auditorium, Gammel  Kalkbrænderivej 51A, 2100 København Ø</strong></em></p>
This seminar tackles the issue of how we link local needs and solutions with global ones in ways that foster indigenous innovation - moving from isolated top-down projects to solutions that are both locally sustainable and able to be scaled. Whether we call it human-centered design, indigenous or participatory innovation, the aim is to put local systems at the heart of the innovation process. 
This is an open event for  innovation enthusiasts, researchers, private sector, aid practitioners looking to engage in lively discussions combining local experiences, conceptual discussions and participant inputs on the challenges of humanitarian and development innovation.
