About this event

  • 3 hours

Join Marshall Creek Farm & 6 Kings Farm for a ticketed two-ish hour hands on introduction to LOCAL fiber processing. Meet the farmers and their story of farming local fiber.

Go on a journey from the sheep themselves, shearing and skirting raw fleeces, to scouring, to hand and drum carding, to different ways of spinning, to examples of finished projects. We're doing a deep dive into all things fiber! Learn about alpaca versus wool and the advantages and disadvantages of both. We will touch on the benefits of natural fibers, the detriments of the fast fashion industry, the labor intensive fiber processing and the lack of commercial processing options, the reality of local fiber producers and the challenge of producing high quality fiber.

Guest appearances by two local FIBER ARTISTS!

Come on out to learn something new and to see how you can support local fiber.

Light refreshments will be provided.
