About this event

  • 3 hours

It has come time to dissolve the Living Artists Collective as a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization. Endings can be bittersweet, so we wanted to hold a gathering to give folks one last chance to come together in the context of LAC and our accomplishments over the past 4 years.

Thank you to Slip Gallery for hosting, and to Annah Nelson-Feeney, LAC's most recent nonprofit board president, for helping conduct this event during her gallery show "7 Seconds of Personality", also featuring the work of LAC grant winner Rowan Eriksson.

This event: All LAC artists, supporters, and other members of the Seattle community are invited to attend. We even decided to include a buffet dinner in celebration of Summer Solstice and the longest day of the year. You can expect plenty of food, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, music, and lots of socializing as we celebrate Living Artists. There is no need to bring anything; simply RSVP so we know how much food to provide. All ingredients will be listed clearly for those with dietary restrictions.

About the organization: LAC has existed in one form or another since early 2020. It was based on the idea formed in late 2019 of building an artist community and resource network focused on providing for the emerging visual artists of Seattle so they might see a path to establishing themselves and remaining in this increasingly expensive area. We became a 501(c)3 in March of 2023 in hopes of creating a strong foundation for a future of offering grants to low-income visual artists. We gave out the first three of those grants in February 2024, and promptly ran into funding and personel limitations that mean it's time to bid farewell to the organization. We are extremely proud of all the shows and corresponding events we put on, the connections that we made possible, and the artists that we celebrated. Learn more at livingartistscollective.org.
