Charlemos Charlotte and The Living Archives are coming together for a grand event on Saturday, May 4th at South Boulevard Library!!
Charlemos Charlotte is an immersive bilingual experience that allows English learners and Spanish learners of all levels to learn from each other through interactive games, engaging activities, and conversation. A guest speaker is scheduled at the end of each event to share their story on how they immersed into a new culture and learned a second language.
The Living Archives is a three-year-long project that has aimed to capture the stories of those deeply impacted by COVID-19, with a specific focus on communities of color and those who are rarely represented in traditional archives. Now, at year three, we are highlighting these stories through our traveling exhibit featuring diverse voices, photographs, and videos contributed by Mecklenburg community leaders and members.
We invite you to come see the traveling exhibit during opening hours at South Boulevard Library from Friday, April 19th – Thursday, May 9th. Join us for a special event on Saturday, May 4th which will include a twist on our Charlemos Charlotte Program where we’ll share more about The Living Archives Project, host special guest speakers who will share their personal experiences with COVID, a space to connect with others, and local appetizers from a Charlotte-based minority-owned business all while practicing and learning a new language.
A scavenger hunt activity is also available for participants wanting to enter a chance to receive a $40 gift card to Food Lion or Living Archives swag while the traveling exhibit is at South Boulevard Library (Friday, April 19th – Thursday, May 9th).
