About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

In this quick-paced workshop, attendees can pitch a cookbook idea and get instant feedback from Sally Ekus, an experienced literary agent, and the four Everything Cookbooks hosts. Don’t have a book idea right now? Join in to learn valuable tips on what goes into crafting a pitch when your brilliant idea hits.

Ticket Options:

Pitch Tix ($55): Come prepared with a 30-second pitch outlining your cookbook idea (include title, sub-title, and 3-line summary). Following each pitch, Sally will provide detailed feedback on what works and offer suggestions for improvements and refinements. We encourage all kinds of pitches, from ideas in the early stages of development to those that are well-polished and ready to go. Get tickets early, as we have a limited number of pitch slots!

*There are also 2 equity slots available for individuals who want to pitch but may not have the resources available. Please email us at everythingcookbooks@gmail.com to request one of these spots.

General Admission Tix ($25): Listen to the live pitch slam and learn what goes into crafting a cookbook pitch that stands out. General audience members can participate in the Q&A at the end of the workshop.

(The fee allows us to provide equity tickets to the workshop, offer an honorarium to our guest speaker, and helps support the operating costs of our podcast.)

This workshop will help you:

- Understand what makes a cookbook pitch stand out

- Know what agents and publishers look for when reviewing new cookbook ideas

- Condense your cookbook proposal into an appealing “elevator” speech

- Frame your cookbook concept to capture the attention of agents and publishers
