Akwasi Abrefah

Akwasi is a Bay Area based steelpan player - educating, advising, and directing pan people and ensembles at Stanford University, the East Bay Center for the Performing Arts in Richmond, and the Bayview Senior Services Center. He's been performing over the last couple decades from the Bay to BK, WA to LA, and London to Trinidad and Tobago - the birthplace of steelpan. Why does he perform and educate? His purpose is always to promote the unique history and culture of steelpan in ways that emphasize the instrument's ability to relate to stories of resilience, joy, competition, youth ingenuity, and national sovereignty - particularly in Afro-diasporic communities

Eventbrite registration is highly recommended and will receive priority access to the event. If the event is sold out, limited walkup registrations may be available on a first-come, first-served basis day of the event.
