About this event

Join us for a unique and enriching experience at the National Museum of the American Indian! This event aims to deepen our understanding of Native American and Indigenous history and culture through exploration, discussion, and community engagement.

The event is free, but donations are appreciated to support guest facilitators and future Race Literacy Connections events.

We will:

  • Explore Native American/Indigenous History and Culture: Discover at least five new insights about Native American and Indigenous history and culture that you can share with friends.
  • Linguistic Realities: Gain a deeper understanding of the historical and contemporary linguistic landscapes of tribes in North America.
  • Build Community: Foster connections and relationships through a hands-on, experiential learning opportunity.

Schedule:

  • 10 am-12 noon: Explore the museum
  • 12 noon: Meet up for lunch in the Mitsitam Native Foods Cafe to 1) share and discuss what you learned from exploring the museum with others; 2) engage in Q&A with David Edmondson regarding his Indigenous Native Languages Map
  • 1:15 pm: Further exploration of the museum if desired
