About this event

PEN/Faulkner’s Literature on Screen series highlights authors whose work has been reimagined as a film or TV show. Our latest installment presents Charmaine Wilkerson’s Black Cake, a multi-generational family saga that inspired the 2023 Hulu show created by Marissa Jo Cerar. The author and series creator will be joined by moderator Hannah Oliver Depp, co-owner of Loyalty Bookstores, in a virtual discussion exploring storytelling and the art of adaptation.

We’re proud to partner with Loyalty Bookstores for this year’s Literature on Screen event. Purchase a copy of Black Cake from Loyalty here.

The Hulu series is available for viewing here.
