Join us as we Celebrate Juneteenth with: Singing, Poetry, Sign-Mime, the History of JUNETEENTH and its Traditions, and of course a JUNETEENTH Parade! Then enjoy a great Puppet show!

  • "We Rise Above " is a new puppet show developed in collaboration with children’s librarians from the Detroit Public Library and artists from the Detroit Puppet Company.
  • Exploring stories from the lives of American heroes John Lewis, Mae Jemison and Amanda Gorman,
  • We Rise Above illustrates how the power of words and images inspired these 3 historic figures to create change in the world, empower others and increase equality for Black Americans.
  • Using puppets that range from oversized pop-up books to hand puppets to Czech marionettes, this show is appropriate for ages 5 and up.
