About this event

Arts • Dance

Join us for the 15th Asheville Butoh Festival! We are excited that Atsushi Takenouchi of Jinen Butoh and composer Hiroko Komiya will be our 2025 guests!

This year we are partnering with the University of North Carolina Asheville's Theater Department for two days of workshops and performances.

Each event of the festival is ticketed separately!

The full festival schedule is available on our website at www.ashevillebutoh.com

Life of Flower will be a performance by the workshop students. Atsushi deftly structures the choreography using provocative, timely images to generate authentic dance from the participants. The group piece will be sensitively accompanied by experimental composer Hiroko Komiya and will take place on Sunday at 7:30 PM at the Carol Belk Theatre at UNCA.

Parking information will be available closer to the event.

(Please note there is a performance of Jinen Butoh in collaboration with Black Mountain College Museum + Arts Center on Thursday evening, October 30th. See their website for details and tickets for that specific event.)
