Liberating Structures Immersion Workshop (Atlanta)

Nancy White,Seattle, is an experienced Liberating Structures practitioner and immersion workshop leader.  Nancy enjoys thinking in, out, around, and beside the box. Her practice has spanned being a pioneer of both face-to-face and "online facilitation" -- group facilitation for distributed environments and co-author ofDigital Habitats: Stewarding Technology for Communitieswith Etienne Wenger and John D. Smith. Her wide focus includes distributed work, strategic planning, social learning, communities and networks. Oh, and CHOCOLATE!Nadine Doyle, Atlanta,is a recovering employee currently pursuing a dream to change the world, one human interaction at a time. As a process design nerd, certified facilitator, and passionate student of dialogue to forge greater connection, Nadine spends a LOT of time helping people connect and think better together. In an attempt to practice what she preaches (and not lose her mind), Nadine also dedicates as much time as possible connecting with herself, through daily meditation, escapist reading, running, tennis, and doing crazy early-morning workouts in her basement. She spends the rest of her time hanging out, traveling, snuggling, and having an all-around incredible time with the special men in her life – husband of 9 years Michael, 6-year-old Finn, and 4-year-old Kellen.Robin Muretisch, Atlanta, is Founder and Principal of Facilitative InsightsLLC. Group facilitation is what Robin loves to do.  For 30+ years, she’s been consulting with, advising, and facilitating teams to implement a wide variety of organizational initiatives.  Robin also coaches individuals on facilitation techniques and session design.  She’s even used facilitation to keep the peace during jury deliberations and at homeowners’ association meetings, proving that facilitation really can be transformative!Robin is a IAF Certified Professional Facilitator (CPF) and volunteers in various ways to promote the profession.Outside of faciltiation fun, Robin loves spending time with her husband, family, and friends.  She doesn’t sit still very long and is always doing something, whether it’s yoga, walking, experimenting with new recipes, frequenting local concerts and hole-in-the-wall restaurants, learning new things, volunteering at church, or organizing just about anything!

Unwittingly, the conventional ways that people routinely meet, think and work together result in some or all of the symptoms listed above. Conventional structures are either too inhibiting (presentations, status reports and managed discussions) or too disorganized (open discussions and brainstorms) to creatively engage people in achieving the outcomes they desire. They frequently generate feelings of frustration and/or exclusion and fail to provide space for risk-taking or good ideas to emerge and flourish. This means that huge amounts of time and money are spent working the wrong way, and more time and money are then spent trying to fix the unintended consequences.  
In this practical, two-day workshop, you’ll gain hands-on experience of Liberating Structures, a field-tested, results-focused collection of engagement structures which include everyone in shaping the future. You will leave equipped with a rich and adaptable toolkit to unleash the creativity and talent of everyone on your team, workgroup, or organization.
What are Liberating Structures?
<A HREF="http://www.liberatingstructures.com" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Liberating Structures</A> are simple, elegant and easy shifts in the methods we use to bring people together to talk, think and solve problems together. They are called “liberating” because they are designed to include and engage everybody – liberating, so to speak, everybody’s contributions and deeply held wisdom and creativity. They stimulate better conversations, deeper thinking, and greater engagement. 
Taken individually, each of the 33+ methods change the way results are generated by a group. As a repertoire of complementary methods, they address many chronic challenges faced by groups. The precise and simple way each Liberating Structure is specified makes it possible for anyone to quickly start using them.

Logistics

<LI>The workshop will run from 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18 and Thursday, Sept. 19, with breakfast available at 8:30 a.m.</LI>
<LI>Free parking is available.</LI>
<LI>Breakfast, beverages and afternoon snacks will be provided on both days. Lunch will be on your own with a variety of walkable options available, in addition to the option to bring your own lunch (refrigerator and microwave are available).</LI>
<LI>Attire is casual or business casual, depending on your preference.</LI>

 Ticketing & Refund Terms & Conditions

<LI>Ticket price does not include Eventbrite fees or taxes (3.5% + $1.59 per ticket + $2.5% payment processing).</LI>
<LI>Refunds (minus service fees) are allowed up to 30 days prior to the event. Within the 30-day window, tickets may be transferred to another person with the explicit consent of the organizers.</LI>
<LI>The organizers reserve the right to cancel the event due to extenuating circumstances. In the event of a need to cancel or reschedule the event, ticket prices (excluding service fees) will be reimbursed in full.</LI>
