Question 1

What kinds of "lies" can be told?

Accepted Answer

The "lies" should be short stories (humorous, dramatic, supernatural, etc.) with a maximum limit of five minutes.  There is a one-minute grace period.  A teller that exceeds the time limit will be disqualified.  Stories must be in good taste and appropriate for general audiences.  No use of notes!

What are the four judging criteria?

Accepted Answer

1) Technique - delivery, confidence, general stagecraft. 2) Story Development - good tale development in the given time. 3) Originality - new material or fresh handling of a familiar yarn. 4) Effectiveness - in judges' opinion, taking audience responsiveness.  Scores of 1 to 10 for each category.

How will the order of appearance be determined?

Accepted Answer

All contestants must register.  Contestant names will be drawn at random.

Question 4

What are the cash awards?

Accepted Answer

Awards:  $100 First Place; $50 Second Place; $25 Third Place.  The award ceremony will take place after the contest.  The decision of the judges will be final.
