Let's Talk Summer Programs

Let's Talk Summer Programs

Online event
Wednesday, Apr 22 from 7 pm to 8 pm EDT
Overview

Join us for a panel discussion with representatives from five independent special education schools offering summer programming.

Hosted by Special Education Legal Fund (S.E.L.F.), this webinar brings together representatives from American School for the Deaf, Winston Preparatory School, Eagle Hill School, Fusion Academy, and Villa Maria School for a thoughtful discussion on summer programming for students with diverse learning needs. The panel will explore what families can generally expect from summer programs, including goals, structure, staffing, and how programs are designed to support academic, social, and emotional growth during the summer months.

Each school will also share what makes its summer program unique, highlighting differences in instructional approach, student profiles served, therapeutic or enrichment components, and how summer programming may complement a student’s school-year placement. Moderated by Laura Sullivan, Staff Attorney at S.E.L.F., the conversation is designed to help parents and professionals better understand available options, ask informed questions, and think strategically about whether and how a summer program may meet a student’s individual needs.
