Shrubs and trees are an essential part of garden design providing structure, privacy, shade, and seasonal interest. But not all trees and shrubs help build a diverse ecosystem that can prevent erosion, absorb pollutants from the soil, manage stormwater runoff, and sequester carbon dioxide. Native trees and shrubs are suited to our region, generally require less water and care and provide seeds, nuts, berries, and shelter for birds and pollinators. Join us to learn about the benefits of native trees and shrubs and how to choose plants for your landscape.
