Let's Talk About Fort Cumberland

A History Discovery Discussion Event

This History Discovery Discussion is a chance to dig into the history of Fort Cumberland in a whole new way. The Historical Society's fort model is being moved from the third-floor collection at Gordon Roberts down to the Canada Hose House so everyone in attendance can join the discussion and visualize this legendary frontier outpost that turned into our City.

The presentation is based on a slide show that has been shown twice (in Butler and Bedford PA) to enthusiastic reviews as a history narrative eye opener. It's time to talk about this at Ground Zero! The information come from author Lannie Dietle's two-volume 1200+ page history of Fort Cumberland. It skips the obvious and zeroes in on a trail of military and private documents from the 18th century that show why and how the Fort was built and why it's different from all the other famous French and Indian War forts.
