Let's Read ADA - LIFESIGNS Workshop

LIFESIGNS, Inc. was established in 1986 to provide emergency sign language interpreting services for health care, mental health and law enforcement agencies. LIFESIGNS, Inc. responds to 40 to 50 emergencies a month and approximately 10,000+ requests annually. LIFESIGNS, Inc. provides a full spectrum of interpreter services in ten counties, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

In this workshop, participants will:
<UL>
<LI>Examine the five titles of the ADA</LI>
<LI>Understand Congress's nine "findings" that lead to the ADA legislation</LI>
<LI>Identify all regulations concerning sign language interpreters and deaf individuals</LI>
<LI>Define "disability" and "discrimination" as understood by the ADA</LI>
<LI>List "reasonable" accommodations, and understand what is "unreasonable"</LI>
<LI>Differentiate between what business are and are not required to do under the ADA</LI>
<LI>Name and understand two court decisions that have affected ADA enforcement</LI>
<LI>Apply an understanding of the ADA to daily interpreting practices.</LI>
</UL>
When: October 28, 2017 from 9AM - 1PM. *Pending CEU Approval*

Cost: $40 pre-registration by October 23, 2017. After October 23, registration fee increase to $45. On-site registration is $45, check or cash only. Online registration will close on October 27, 2017 at 4PM. No refunds after October 23.
