On Saturday September 23rd Barrels to Beethoven will host Let's Play Pan! 21+ at The Mine Factory Gallery. The event will feature Caribbean food and drinks that guests can enjoy while they learn to play the steelpan, a Caribbean instrument with deep roots in the Pittsburgh area. Guests learn in a band setting and are able to perform by the end of the night! Barrels to Beethoven is all about interactive programming. Although most of the programs are geared towards young people, this event gives adults a chance to join in the fun! A great cultural and musical experience! With your support, Barrels to Beethoven hopes to raise funds to support our 2017- 2018 youth steelpan education programs which include; classroom and out of school time education in underserved communities.

About the Organization

Barrels to Beethoven is dedicated to steelpan preservation, education, and innovation. Founded in 2014 by Leigh Solomon Pugliano, daughter of steelpan builder, tuner and player, Phil Solomon, Barrels to Beethoven provides engaging, entertaining, and interactive opportunities for the public, especially young people, to learn the accurate history of the instrument, the building and tuning process, music theory, and technique. The mission of the organization is to provide impactful arts and cultural education to the community. In additional to learning music theory, science, innovation, and technique, kids who participate in our steelpan education programs gain the personal, social, emotional, and educational assets needed to support healthy development.
