Event description

Description

As part of Baltimore Innovation Week's Civic Day, volunteers will join nonprofit partners Baltimore Tree Trust and Break A Difference to plant trees in East Baltimore. In addition to planting trees, volunteers will help provide much needed tree maintenance and trash removal. We will meet at the Baltimore Food Hub then deploy out to nearby streets to plant trees! Volunteers of all ages welcome, but minors must arrive with a this Waiver & Release signed by a parent/guardian.

By investing in the planting and care of trees, as well as the education and development of those who tend to them, Baltimore can be a leader in the field of green infrastructure and its impacts on public and environmental health.

After volunteering, we'll have an optional BBQ for volunteers where we'll be showcasing local nonprofits volunteer efforts and how volunteers can do more beyond the day.

Join us and sign up to volunteer today!

The Baltimore Tree Trust is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2008 to make Baltimore a greener and healthier place to live. Since our inception, we have planted over 5,500 trees on private property and in disadvantaged neighborhoods throughout Baltimore City. The Tree Trust spearheads efforts to achieve Baltimore’s 40% urban tree canopy goal by methodically planting up neighborhoods that have few existing trees, while engaging community leaders and stakeholders in the planting and sustainable maintenance of trees.

About Break A Difference

Break A Difference’s (B•A•D) mission is to strategically engage individuals and institutions through service to make positive impacts in communities and in those who serve. As a nonprofit, we accomplish this by engaging corporations in large-scale service projects, preparing skilled leaders to serve on nonprofit boards, expanding the volunteer service capacity for nonprofits, and partnering with organizations to engage college students in week-long immersive service trips, otherwise known as Alternative Breaks.

We recognize service and volunteering as powerful tools to tackle such important matters as leadership development, team building, and employee engagement.
