About this event

WABA's Let's Get Rolling classes and rides are here to help YOU reach your biking goals! In this 2 part class series, participants will learn tips and tricks for using their bike to get to where they need to go!

Class #1: Confident City Cycling

Confident City Cycling teaches you the skills you need to ride safely and confidently on streets and in heavily trafficked areas.

The first half of the class will cover important bike handling skills and hazard avoidance maneuvers necessary while riding in traffic. Participants learn skills such as the avoidance weave, quick stop, rock dodge and instant turn, and discuss considerations for sharing space with other road users.

The class ends with an on-street group ride, where participants put their newly acquired skills to the test.

Class #2: Commuting 101 Ride

WABA Instructors will lead participants on a 2 hour group ride, where they will stop to talk about topics such as:

  • What to wear when riding in different types of weather
  • How to carry cargo on your bike
  • How to bring your bike on the Metro
  • How to put your bike on the front of a bus (and we will practice this!)
  • How to lock your bike to best deter theft

At the end of the ride, Instructors will stick around to answer your most burning bike related questions!
