Description:

Come join us as we learn about plants you can forage, hang with friends new and old, and nurture our relationship to nature and each other. You will learn how to begin identifying these on your own, avoid poisonous lookalikes, prepare finds for functional use (eating, decorating, etc), and gain insight into holistic health. Ultimately, you'll walk away with newfound respect and joy for the planet we call home.

Host:

Jessica Lin (she/her) is a forager and gardener, fascinated by natural delights like fun, curly vines and heart-shaped leaves. Guest Speaker:

Mina Nada, M.A., is a geographer, environmental researcher, and nature educator. He received his B.S. in Earth System Science from UC Irvine and completed his Master's degree in Geography at Cal State Long Beach. He founded The Atlas Botanica in 2022 with the goal of educating people on the many edible and medicinal uses of the plants and trees found in Southern California, helping them form deeper connections with local landscapes. In his free time, he is actively tending to his garden, enjoys experimenting with new dishes, playing board games, creating art, surfing, and being outdoors.

Parking:

The parking lot itself is quite large, plenty of space, and pretty flat with both paved road and dirt road. (remember to read signs)

Accessibility:

The walk itself will be on the trail (cleared dirt path) and there are portions that are quite uneven. The trail is not strenuous at all, but it's recommended to wear a good pair of hiking boots.

• Kids 4 and under come free (one per paying/supervisory adult)
